Changdao One
Changdao One is a landscape design for a demonstration area in Xinmi City, Zhengzhou, China. The landscape covers 11390 square meters on a long and narrow site. Curved walls of white concrete shape an internal route of 180 meters that is read as a journey through a canyon. A deer sculpture marks the entrance of the canyon. Beyond the canyon, one side presents terraced fields and the other side presents the building placed within the landscape. Darker stone tones were selected to suit the dry local climate, and the curves screen the disordered surrounding buildings.
Changdao One Demonstration Area by JIALIAN Design was highlighted as a creative illustration of architectural design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Changdao One Demonstration Area earned the Golden A' Design Award in Landscape Planning and Garden Design in 2022. The A' Landscape Planning and Garden Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design award which celebrates exceptional design of landscape designs, public parks, residential gardens, urban plazas, campus designs, green roofs, waterfront developments, Eco-Parks, botanical gardens and more.
